It does begin to speed up at about lesson 25. By then it rarely repeats anything word for word. i.e. it introduces something new and imediately starts putting in complicated combinations with stuff you already know. It also gets funnier too:

Are you alone?
No my husband is here.
I will go then.

I've also found doing something else at the same time helps (although I think people who try it while driving are probably pushing it a bit).

Thanks for commenting :)

I've never liked the Pimsleur method because of how slow it moves. I tried the German series, made it about 15 lessons in, and things like not having not introduced the informal du, something heard constantly in spoken German, made me feel like it was crawling along and that I would be better off doing something else.

But then, I'm an impatient sod, so perhaps it's just me :)
